Liposuction is the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure in the United States. Using local or general anesthesia, your doctor is able to sculpt your body to remove pockets of unwanted fat. The most common areas of unwanted fat reside in the hips, buttocks, waist, thighs and abdomen. Depending on the amount of fat being removed, the procedure can last between one to five hours.
