Dr. Gray has extensive professional expertise and is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery - the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify plastic surgeons. Dr. Gray is also board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
He is an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the California Medical Association, the San Francisco Medical Society as well as a fellow in the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Gray's patients do not only come from the Bay Area. As his reputation has grown, his clientele has included patients from many parts of the country. He has even had patients come to him from areas outside of he United States.
Dr. Gray earned his Bachelor of Arts and masters degrees at the University of California at Berkeley; completing his undergraduate studies with honors. He attended the University of California at Los Angeles Medical School, receiving, upon graduation the prestigious and highly coveted AOA research award; one of only five medical students in the nation to receive this distinction. At Harvard University, where Dr. Gray fulfilled his residency in general surgery, he was chief resident in his final year. Following his residency at Harvard, Dr. Gray was privileged to be accepted to a Hand and Micro surgery fellowship under the tutelage of Dr. Harry Buncke, acknowledged in the medical community as the "Father of Microsurgery". Dr. Gray then elected to complete his training in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery at St. Frances Hospital in San Francisco because the primary focus of their program is cosmetic surgery, Dr. Gray's chosen specialty.
