You can help other people who are considering liposuction, tummy tucks, body contouring and abdominoplasty by sharing your experiences. The technical or "brochure" descriptions of the procedure provide valuable information, but they don't provide the personal details and "real people" information that many of us want to know.

Thank you for considering contributing your liposuction or abdominoplasty story / photos to the personal experiences section of LipoSite.  If you have already had liposuction or tummy tuck surgery, you know how important it was to read the stories of others who had gone through the difficult decision to undergo this surgery and who had experienced recovery first hand.

If you want to contribute your story and/or photos, here is how to do it.   Please do your best to follow the instructions very carefully.  Stories and photos that do not comply with these requirements will not be added.

Story Submission Guidelines  - Photo Submission Guidelines

What to Include in your Liposuction or Tummy Tuck Story:

Please provide as much detail as you are comfortable with.  We value your privacy, so please don't include too many personally identifiable details (name, address, etc.) in your story itself. Unless you specifically request us to include your e-mail address, we will not make it publicly available.

While keeping your privacy in mind, it would be nice to know a little bit about your background and whether you are married, have kids, the general type of work you do, etc.  What were your motivations?  How long have you been considering the surgery?  How and for  long did you research the procedure before surgery?  What decisions did you make about surgery and what were your expectations.  How was the time up to including and after surgery for you?  Describe your recovery for the first weeks or months.

Format and Requirements:

  1. You must send your entire story all at once. We do not have the resources to be able to provide frequent and ongoing updates to personal stories.

  2. Your surgery must have been at least 2 months ago.  This should allow you to have gone through adequate healing so that you can judge your results.

  3. You must email us with the text of your story attached to your email as a text or as a Microsoft Word file.

  4. Please try to keep your story at less than 4,500 characters (including spaces). This equates to roughly two pages.

  5. Your story should be formatted into paragraphs and be in a format nearly ready for publication to the website.  If significant editing, spelling or grammar corrections are required, the story may not be used.

  6. Your story must be accompanied by a copy of your signed consent form.   You must print the consent form, sign it, scan it as an image, and email it to me as an attachment to your email.  Click here to view and print the consent form.

  7. Finally, we reserve the right to include or exclude stories so that we can have a representative mix of people, types of surgery (liposuction, tumescent liposuction, ultrasonic liposuction, abdominoplasty, mini tummy tucks, etc.) and outcomes.   We may rotate content into or out of the personal liposuction and tummy tuck experiences section from time to time, in order to keep the site's content fresh.

If any of the requirements is missing, we must reject the story in favor of and in fairness to those who follow these requirements.  The setup, HTML coding and linking of the stories is a very time-consuming process and I hope you will appreciate the need for these guidelines.

How to Submit Your Liposuction, Abdominoplasty, Body Contouring or Tummy Tuck Photos:

Thank you for considering contributing your before and after photographs! If you have already had your surgery, you know how important it was to view before and after photographs of of plastic surgery patients who have had the same procedure so you can see what to expect after the surgery.

If you want to contribute your pictures, here is how to do it. Please follow the instructions very carefully. Submissions that do not comply with these requirements will not be added.

Format and Requirements:

1. Send your photos all at once.

2. Your surgery must have been at least 2 months ago. You must submit both before pictures and after pictures. Please submit side and oblique views as well as frontal and rear views if you have them.  If you have clothed photos of yourself, you may submit them as well.  Also helpful are photos of any scars you might have after the surgery. This will help others see how your healing progressed.

3. The pictures must be:

  • Sent by email.
  • Scanned at 72 or 96 dpi (unless you took them with a digital camera, in which case scanning is not necessary).  If sending from a digital camera, please try to send them at a lower resolution.  We don't need super-high resolution for display on the web.
  • Cropped to exclude edging (from Polaroids, for example)
  • Please do not scan the photos altogether on the scanner bed. Each photo should be scanned as a separate image.

4. Please send the following stats: Your age, height, weight, and the procedure you had.  Please include as much detail as possible.  For example, if you had ultrasonic liposuction and 1,100 cc was removed, make sure to tell us.  Also let us know how long after surgery your photos were taken.  If your weight changed after surgery, let us know that, too. Please include any other information that would be helpful (prior, other surgeries, etc).

5. Send a signed consent form. You must print the consent form, sign it, scan it as an image, and email it to me as an additional image along with your photos. Click here to view and print the consent form.

Thanks!

Hope
