Our Philosophy

Cosmetic (aesthetic) plastic surgery is a surgical specialty designed to enhance an individuals appearance; for example, body sculpting, contouring of a nose or chin, or a face lift. More people are seeking cosmetic surgery every year. Now, many men and women in their 30s and 40s are undergoing cosmetic surgical procedures to help maintain a more youthful appearance. Recent advances in plastic surgery techniques have made cosmetic surgery possible with much less trauma and recovery time. Facial and skin rejuvenation and body contouring procedures can make the visible signs of aging less noticeable. Factors such as sun exposure, smoking and even heredity cause many of us to take notice of the aging process.

Many magazines, books and particularly television tend to oversimplify and sensationalize plastic surgery. It is intricate surgery that should be performed by a highly skilled and trained surgeon after a thorough discussion and examination have been completed. It is important that our patients know Dr. Loutfy and his staff are here to assist you throughout your treatment; to make it a comfortable and positive experience.

About Dr. Loutfy

Education

Dr. Loutfy received a dental degree in 1986 from Loyola University of Chicago. This experience initiated an interest in oral and maxillofacial surgery. He furthered his training and completed a four-year residency in maxillofacial surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. After completion of this program he was selected to become the first oral and maxillofacial surgeon to enter medical school at the advanced placement level, at the Medical College of Wisconsin. Based on these early experiences, Dr. Loutfy developed a desire to help children born with cleft lip and palate deformities and other craniofacial anomalies.

He furthered his post graduate surgical training in general surgery at the Phoenix Integrated Surgical Residency Program; and then was selected to train in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center. Upon completing the Plastic Surgery Residency he entered private practice in the New Mexico medical community.

Although a majority of the practice is focused upon cosmetic surgery, Dr. Loutfy still continues to treat a large patient population with cleft lip and palate deformities. He frequently travels throughout the state evaluating children at outlying clinics and then performs reconstructive surgery in Albuquerque.

In addition, he also donates his time and services to treat Albuquerque's youth in the Gang-Related Tattoo Removal Project. Dr. Loutfy has received numerous academic awards, held three teaching positions, has written multiple scientific articles, and presented at national meetings. He is a member of a number of medical and surgical societies, and is Board-Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. He regularly attends meetings and courses to continue the highest level of care and competence for our patients.
