Philosophy
Dr. Steven J. White feels privileged to have a profession that combines his interests in medicine and art with his desire to help others. He is dedicated to seeking the best outcome for each patient. Achieving excellent results requires not only careful planning, attention to detail, and advanced techniques, it also requires a commitment from both the surgeon and the patient.
Patient safety and natural appearing results are Dr. White's primary goals. He only uses doctors (anesthesiologists)not nurses (CRNA's or anesthetists)to administer anesthesia to maximize patient safety. He operates at fully accredited surgery centers and hospital operating rooms. For the convenience of his patients, he maintains privileges at eight area hospitals and three surgery centers.
Dr. White strongly believes in patient education and enjoys spending time with his patients. During the initial consultation, he listens carefully to their concerns and goals for surgery. He enjoys teaching and believes it's important for patients to be well informed about what to expect before, during, and after surgery. Informational videotapes of the most common procedures as well as before and after photos are available for viewing during the consultation.
He is committed to obtaining the best result with each operation he performs. Careful attention to detail during surgery allows for natural appearing resultsthereby avoiding the "overdone, operated look." Almost any operation can be performed quickly; however, performing a task to the best of one's ability generally takes some time. Dr. White believes it's worth this extra effort to obtain the most natural results.

A perfectionist is one who constantly strives to improve. He is not happy until he knows he has done his best. Dr. Steven J. White is guided by a principle he learned at an early age: "If you are going to do something&do it right." This simple philosophy has served him well both academically and professionally throughout his life.
Raised on a ranch in Central Texas, he was influenced by both Texas and European culture. His interest in art stems from his European travel as a youth. Medicine was a natural career choice since it allowed him to pursue his love of science with his desire to help others.
Dr. White has distinguished himself among his peers at every level of his academic career. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Baylor University with Honors and later graduated Alpha Omega Alpha from Baylor College of Medicine with Honors. Alpha Omega Alpha, or AOA, is considered the "Phi Beta Kappa of medical school." It is a medical honor society that recognizes the top ten percent of medical students in the nation. Dr. White was further recognized for his achievement in medical school by his selection for Basic Science Honors, a distinction reserved for the top students in each class.
His interest in surgery grew from his fascination with human anatomy. Dr. White's surgical career was shaped by many highly acclaimed surgeons. While in Houston, he was honored to have operated with and learned from two of the most famous surgeons of our time: Dr. Michael DeBakey and Dr. Denton Cooley. During his many years of surgical residency in two specialties, he was also fortunate to have trained under several world-renowned plastic surgeons.
Dr. White is one of the few plastic surgeons in the United States certified by both the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery. He dedicated 8 years to residency training (after medical school) in order to be fully trained in both specialties. Dr. White received his training in Otolaryngology at UT Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas. He then returned to Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Dr. White is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. He is also a member of the Double Boarded Society as well as numerous other medical societies.
Well regarded for his teaching ability, Dr. White has given numerous lectures on plastic surgery. In addition to teaching anatomy to medical students, he has served as Clinical Instructor of plastic surgery at Baylor College of Medicine. Currently, Dr. White is an attending surgeon at many of Dallas' finest hospitals.
Dr. Steven J. White is known for his love of Texas and passion for surgery. He enjoys travel, skiing, and scuba diving. An avid art collector, he also enjoys theater and opera and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Fort Worth Opera.
