Dr. Mark Richards is a recognized leader in cosmetic plastic surgery, as well as in the medical community. He has been interviewed by news columnists and television journalists alike for his expertise in plastic and laser surgery. Recent honors include selection by the Consumer's Research Council of America for inclusion in their Guide to America's Top Surgeons. Washingtonian Magazine selected Dr. Richards as one of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area's top doctors. Baltimore Magazine lists Dr. Richards as the doctor to go to for body contouring and other plastic surgical procedures. He has received national acclaim for the surgery he performed on Linda Tripp. Patients travel across the US and from abroad to take advantage of his cosmetic surgery skills and expertise. In 1996 and 1998 Dr. Richards was honored nationally as being one of the 'Outstanding Young Men of America'.

Dr. Richards graduated from Yale University with honors in 1979. He received his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1983. Dr. Richards then completed 5 years of residency training in general surgery, as well as an additional 2-year residency in plastic surgery. Dr. Richards has been certified by both the American Board of Surgery and the American Board of Plastic Surgery. In addition to his practice of 12 years, Dr. Richards has written on many topics in plastic surgery and lectured extensively to the medical and lay communities. The technique Dr. Richards developed to lift sagging arms with hidden incisions was published as the lead article in the July/August 2001 issue of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal. Dr. Richards has served as President of the National Capitol Society of Plastic Surgeons (the MD, VA and Washington DC metropolitan area Plastic Surgery Society) and as President of the Montgomery County Medical Society (a 1700 member physician professional society dedicated to improving patient and community healthcare). Dr. Richards continues to update his skills and knowledge through many hours of continuing medical education (CME) and is a current member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS).
