Plastic Surgeons Dr. Roger Friedman, Dr. Douglas L. Forman, Dr. Kathy Huang of North Bethesda, Maryland (MD) Profiles

Post-graduate fellowships in Hand and Microvascular Surgery in San Francisco and cosmetic and breast surgery in Honolulu were completed prior to going into practice in the Washington Metropolitan area in October 1984. Dr. Friedman is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the clinical facilities of both George Washington and Georgetown Universities.

Currently, Dr. Friedman serves as the Chairman of the Sub-Section of Plastic Surgery at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Friedman has published papers on breast surgery in the Plastic Surgical literature and presented papers in local, national and international meetings.

Dr. Douglas L. Forman was elected to Phi Beta Kappa during his undergraduate studies, then he obtained his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Yale University, where he won numerous awards. His training culminated with a subspecialty fellowship in Breast and Aesthetic Surgery at Georgetown University.

Dr. Forman received his board certification from the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of The American College of Surgeons. As a Clinical Instructor in Surgery at Georgetown University he is involved with the training of tomorrow’s plastic surgeons.

He the immediate past Chief of Plastic Surgery at Suburban Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine in Bethesda, Maryland. Now he has been elevated to Chair-Elect of Surgery and in 2014 will be made Chair of Surgery at Suburban Hospital.

Dr. Forman was the first President of the Maryland Society of Plastic Surgeons from 2010-2012 and remains active in state issues that impact the safety of patients undergoing plastic surgery procedures. On a national level, he is a member of The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) and The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) and he serves on various committees within each society, including the highly selective ASPS Ethics Committee starting in the fall of 2013.

Dr. Forman has been recognized consistently as a Top Physician in Plastic Surgery by Washingtonian, Bethesda, Northern Virginia, and Consumers’ Checkbook Magazines. The Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington was selected as the Best of Bethesda Top Cosmetic Surgery Practice for 2013. In addition, he has been honored as a Top Doctor in Washington Post Magazine and a Super Doctor by Castle Connolly for the Washington, Baltimore and Northern Virginia region. US News and World Report has selected Dr. Forman as a Top Doctor for several consecutive years.

Dr. Forman regularly lectures on new developments and procedures in plastic surgery. He has been the Medical Director for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas in the Washington, DC metropolitan area since 2006.

Dr. Kathy Huang was born in Taiwan and raised in Bath, NY, in the scenic Finger Lakes region of upstate New York. She attended Harvard University, where she graduated magna cum laude with highest honors in Biology. During that period, she also did extensive research in molecular biology at Harvard Medical School and Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, publishing numerous scientific papers in national journals. Dr. Huang then obtained her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she stayed to continue her training in the highly competitive integrated plastic surgery residency program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Dr. Huang joined the Plastic Surgery Institute of Washington in 2006 after finishing a fellowship at Mercy Medical Center in Baltimore under the direction of Dr. Bernard Chang, focusing on state-of-the-art, advanced microsurgical techniques for breast reconstruction after mastectomy including DIEP (Deep Inferior Epigastric Perforator) flaps. She also brings to the practice a special interest in ethnic cosmetic procedures including double eyelid surgery and female genital procedures such as vaginal reconstruction and labiaplasty (labia minora reduction).

Dr. Huang is Board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She also serves on the board of the Montgomery County Medical Society and is licensed to practice medicine in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
